Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child

The birth of a baby or the adoption of a child is usually an occasion for rejoicing.  Some parents may choose not to have their child baptised, but will, quite rightly, want to express their thanks to God for the gift of their child.  In these circumstances we are happy to invite the family and friends to share in an act of thanksgiving, which is usually incorporated into a normal Sunday service or, occasionally, may be used in the home, depending on individual circumstances.

This is a special, but simple, service of thanksgiving, which is a lovely time when you can ask for God’s blessing and pray for your child, as you are surrounded by your own family and friends.  You might choose this service when your baby is just born, or if you have adopted a child into your family and you simply want to celebrate this with special words said by a vicar.
